SPRAVATO®: For Treatment-Resistant Depression
What is SPRAVATO®?
SPRAVATO® is an FDA-approved esketamine nasal spray used to treat adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and depressive symptoms in those with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have suicidal thoughts or actions. Approved in 2019, it is taken with or without an oral antidepressant for TRD and alongside an oral antidepressant for MDD with suicidal thoughts or actions.

Is SPRAVATO® covered by insurance?
Yes! Many major insurance companies cover SPRAVATO® if you haven’t found adequate relief after trying just TWO oral antidepressants.
2. Pre-Assessment
Next, you will meet with a provider for an evaluation, which includes questions about your history and symptoms.
If your provider has determined that you are a canidate for esketamine nasal spray and you are ready to move forward, they will create your individualized treatment plan and confirm SPRAVATO® coverage with your insurance provider before treatment is started.

3. Treatment
At the our clinic, we try to book your treatments to accommodate your schedule. whether morning or afternoon appointments work best for you.
After you arrive at our office, you will be placed in a reclining chair where you can sit back and relax. You will be handed a nasal spray device to self-adminster. Your care team will supervise you for at least two hours. Afterward, you will need someone to drive you home from treatment. By the next morning, most people are ready to resume their day with no restrictions.
